IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 IGF-1) is an 83-amino-acid recombinant analog of human insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). It combines the 70 residues of native IGF-1 with two modifications: an arginine substitution at position 3 (replacing the native glutamic acid) and a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension peptide. Together these give the analog markedly lower affinity for IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs) and a longer functional half-life than native IGF-1, while retaining activity at the type-1 IGF receptor. It is widely used as a potent serum-free cell-culture supplement in biopharmaceutical research and in laboratory studies of IGF-1 receptor signaling and anabolic/growth pathways. aminobay supplies it lyophilized for laboratory research applications only.
