Ipamorelin is a selective synthetic pentapeptide growth-hormone secretagogue (GHRP) with the sequence Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2. It acts as a selective agonist of the ghrelin/growth-hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a), triggering release of growth hormone from the pituitary while, unlike GHRP-2 and GHRP-6, not stimulating ACTH, cortisol or prolactin. First described by Raun et al. in 1998 as "the first selective growth hormone secretagogue," it is widely studied in growth-hormone, bone and gastrointestinal-motility research. aminobay supplies it lyophilized for laboratory research applications only.
